The Internet MahJong Server (IMS) is a software package that provides virtual playing rooms for the popular Chinese tile game MahJong. You can either play with other players over the Internet, or play against computer players. And better yet the game is free.

IMS requires minimal computer knowledge to connect and play. All you need is a Web browser with the latest Java plugin (can be downloaded from Sun Microsystems), and a reasonably fast Internet connection. Follow the 3 easy steps below to start playing:

Step 1: Click the "Connect to Server" button below. A login dialog box will appear.

Step 2: Enter your desired user name and password. If you are a new player, click the "New Player" button to create your account and login to the server.

Step 3: Join or serve a table and start playing mahjong. It's that easy.

If you don't see a button above, you haven't installed the Java plugin. You can download the plugin here, and then come back to this site.

If you encounter problems or have questions, please read the mahjong documentation using the menu at left. If you still have questions after reading the documentation, check out the FAQ here. All the documentation is also available as online help in the game. You can access online help by clicking the Help menu while in the game. Lastly, click here to report bugs or to ask the site administrator a question.

• 4/17/2004. Most web browsers are now supported. However, this site may be best viewed in IE4 and NS6. Older browsers may have layout problems but it should still be functional.
• 4/16/2004. This Web site provides former mahjong players at mahjong.real-time.com another place to play the great game of mahjong. All featuers and game rules are identical to mahjong.real-time.com. Former real-time players can use their old logins here and all player stats from real-time are preserved. However, the site is temporay and is not intended to be a replacement of mahjong.real-time.com. NOTE: New users are welcome as well.
• 4/16/2004. When you load this page the first time you may get a dialog box asking you to download a java plugins if you don't already have it on your PC. Please proceed to download and install it. It may take several minutes for the download and installation process, so please be patient. The java plugin is REQUIRED to play mahjong games on this site. However, you only need to download and install it once. You will not be asked to download it again on subsequent visits.
